Getting to Casa Tranquilla

Travelling to our farmhouse near Loro Piceno is relatively easy, with good connections both by air and the road network.

If flying, the nearest airport is at Ancona, which is served mainly by Ryanair, Alitalia and Lufthansa. Driving time from the airport to Casa Tranquilla is an easy 75 minutes, mostly on motorway and dual carriageway. Alternative airports, which are also served by other carriers including EasyJet are Pescara, Rimini, Perugia, Bologna and Rome.

Travel times from the main destinations to Loro Piceno according to Google Maps and confirmed by our own experiences are approximately:
Ancona - 1 hr 15 mins
Pescara - 1 hr 50 mins
Rimini - 2 hrs 00 mins
Perugia - 2hrs 15 mins
Bologna - 2 hrs 25 mins
Rome - 3 hrs 10 mins

From the airport it is essential to hire a car in order to reach Casa Tranquilla, and most of the well-know hire companies have offices at Ancona including Hertz, Avis, Europcar and SixT. We recommend that you order a car with at least a 1.6 litre engine in order to cope comfortably with the local hilly terrain and tight bends.

For those who prefer to travel by road, Le Marche is very well connected to the European motorway system from the north, west and south. The A14 coastal motorway (small toll charges) has recently been upgraded to three lanes south of Ancona, with only a short two-lane section remaining norht of the city.
